For 45 years, our Montessori kindergarten has been part of the community at Bacchus Marsh.
Established by local families to care for and support their children from as young as 18 months to 4 years old. Only 5 minutes’ walk from Darley Park, our kindergarten is easy to reach and is surrounded by nature – a nurturing space for children to learn, play, and grow.
Montessori inspires children towards a lifelong love of learning by following their natural development. Children become confident, responsible, independent learners who trust in their own abilities.
Montessori classrooms provide a specially crafted learning environment based on beauty and order. They enable children to respond to their natural tendency to work. Our new, spacious classrooms are fitted with specialised Montessori equipment and provide children with structured and stimulating environments.
Children engage with activities according to their interests and at their own pace guided by our educators. Learning becomes highly personalised.
We offer childcare and kindergarten for children in 3 age groups
Early learners: 18 months to 2.5 years
Children and their parents are introduced to a Montessori environment for 1.5 hours once a week guided by an educator. Children choose individual activities as well as joining others in outside play, group songs and music, developing independence and familiarity with the Montessori approach. It is also a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to experience the Montessori kindergarten environment with their child.
Pre-kindergarten: 2.5 – 3 years
Children under 3 years attend for 3 hours once a week. Children aged over 3 may attend for 3 hours up to 3 times per week. The classroom and activities are similar to kindergarten but modified to be age appropriate. Children choose individual activities with guidance and encouragement from the educator, and take part in group songs, stories and music.
Kindergarten: 4 years+
The kindergarten provides the full range of Montessori activities. Children choose activities that interest them, working independently or with friends. They are encouraged to engage with a range of activities. The educator engages each child individually with a new activity and supports them until they feel confident. Children also go outside for play and participate in group time for stories, discussion and music.
Children can enjoy a range of indoor and outdoor activities and equipment at our kindergarten, where they can explore, play, learn and build strong connections with each other and the environment.

We help children develop healthy eating habits early on in life. We encourage them to take an active role in their food preparation through tending to the herb, vegetable and fruit gardens.
We welcome families and carers into our preschool to share in their child’s early learning experience and connect with our little community. Whether assisting with fundraising or having your say through the Parent Advisory Committee, we encourage everyone to get involved.
Children get to know their local community too, with visits to local primary schools and service people (e.g. police, paramedic, nurse, fire and emergency services, etc.)
We are fortunate to have staff who speak Punjabi and Urdu in addition to English. We can have all forms of communication translated from families who speak languages other than English.
Our educators are equipped with the skills to provide safe and nurturing environments to all children and are experienced in working with children who live with a range of physical and intellectual disability.
