Our town features beautiful natural surroundings, and this beauty extends past the doors of our kindergarten.

We have a delightful playground that invites children to touch, observe and explore the natural world. In January 2019, we opened the doors of our brand new, modern kindergarten facility which offers 3 and 4 year old kindergarten.

Environment

Our town features beautiful natural surroundings, and this beauty extends past the doors of our kindergartens. We have a large playground that invites children to touch, observe and explore the natural world!

Recently opening the doors of our brand new, modern early learning facility, our kindergarten features:

  • Planned and intentional indoor spaces
  • Outdoor space
  • Sandpit
  • Trees and natural shade
  • Vegetable and herb gardening beds
  • Pergola
  • Shade sail
  • Play area with climbing equipment
  • Recycling area to encourage sustainability and caring for the environment
  • Cubby house
  • Gross motor play equipment for activities such as climbing, skipping, throwing and catching

Activities

We value the uniqueness of each child and offer activities to foster their self-esteem, sense of belonging and wellbeing. Our educators encourage children to play in an inclusive and respectful manner and to develop empathy for others, along with nurturing their growing skills in problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution. Each child is respected as an active and involved learner.

To educate children about the importance of sustainability:

  • We encourage recycling
  • We promote sustainable living and encourage children to develop everyday sustainable practises
  • We take excursions that encourage children to care for the environment around them

We also enjoy visits and excursions to local places such as:

  • Science Works
  • The art gallery
  • Museums
  • The botanical gardens
  • Local schools
  • The local library

The children also love the special visitors and activities we arrange such as Responsible Pet Ownership workshops and music lessons.

Health and wellbeing

At a time when children are forming new habits, we guide them towards making healthy choices. We encourage children to take an active role in their food preparation and work closely with families to guide them towards making nutritious choices for their children.

At our kindergarten:

  • We enjoy cooking experiences
  • We educate children and their families about healthy eating and nutrition

Family and community

Ballarat is a tight-knit community. Through a number of programs and local initiatives, our children regularly interact with members of the community which helps develop their sense of belonging and connectedness. We also encourage parents to take an active role in their children’s early learning experience.

Parents often:

  • Celebrate significant cultural festivals and days with us
  • Talk to the children about their job, hobbies and other interesting topics
  • Volunteer their time to provide support and resources for our programs
  • Assist with fundraising
  • Participate in our Parent Advisory Committee (positions are elected at the annual meeting of our kindergarten parents)

We regularly engage with our local community and Indigenous groups inviting special guests and speakers to talk to children. These include:

  • Local primary schools
  • Local library
  • Museums
  • Local service providers and medical professionals
  • Indigenous community members or groups
  • Animal trainers or handlers
  • Farms or farmers
