Gormandale Kindergarten

Kindergarten
345+

Located in Gormandale, nestled in fertile Merrimans Creek Valley, our kindergarten is surrounded by green rolling hills and lush bushland.

Nurturing and educating children of our community aged 3 years and above, children at our kindergarten learn new skills for school, build relationships, and thrive in our naturally beautiful surrounds.

Children enrolling in our service in 2019 are eligible for the Victorian Government drought kindergarten fee subsidy.

Environment

Our rural backdrop forms part of your child’s education program with rich sensory experiences at their fingertips. We make the most of our countryside by encouraging children to explore and play outdoors while they learn about sustainability, how to care for the environment, and the rewards of growing their own produce.

Our kindergarten features:

  • Planned and intentional indoor spaces
  • Large outdoor space
  • Trees and natural shade
  • Vegetable and herb gardening beds
  • Worm farm
  • Birds and bugs
Activities

Children enjoy a range of new experiences at our kindergarten and during exciting excursions with their kinder friends. We design our activities to make learning as fun and engaging as possible, while also encouraging social connections between the children, their community and the environment.

At Gormandale Kindergarten, we promote sustainable living and encourage children to develop everyday sustainable practices. This includes maintaining a worm farm and encouraging composting, as well as promoting recycling of materials and water.

We’re lucky to host a wide variety of visitors, guest speakers and incursions:

  • Wild Action Zoo
  • Early childhood educators and entertainers, Jack & Molly
  • Library Visits

Health and wellbeing

Health education is hands-on and engaging at our kindergarten. By growing our own produce children learn about where fresh food comes from and why it’s nutritious. While progressive morning tea and lunchtimes teach them about when to eat and demonstrates the social joys of sharing a meal as a little community.

Family and community

Families are encouraged to share in their child’s early education. There are many wonderful opportunities for getting involved and enriching children’s experiences in positive, meaningful ways.

We welcome parents and families to:

  • Celebrate significant cultural festivals and days together
  • Volunteer their time to provide support and resources for our programs
  • Assist with fundraising
  • Take an active role in our Parent Advisory Committee
