Hopetoun Child Care Service provides long day care for infants, toddlers, pre-kindergarten and pre-primary school age children.

Supporting parents who have work or other regular commitments during the week. Our low child-to-educator ratio means every child receives personalised care and can enjoy fun educational and play-based activities in our beautiful, recently upgraded space.

  • Sandpit and mud pit
  • Gardening beds
  • Pergola

  • Chickens - Henny Penny and Biscuit!
  • Worm farm

Activities

Learning from the world around them, children immerse themselves in various activities at Hopetoun child care, such as arts and crafts, music lessons, playing sports, and visits to the local primary school.

Children participate in:

  • Growing and sharing vegetables with families and the community
  • Feeding and collecting eggs from our chickens
  • Interacting with the local community
  • Playing sports on our grass lawn

They also enjoy educational entertainment such as:

  • Local school and kindergarten visits
  • Drumming circles
  • Wildlife incursions
Health and wellbeing

Your child will enjoy a range of nutritious meals and snacks - some featuring ingredients harvested from our own garden! We educate children and families about the importance of healthy eating and nutrition as well as promoting sustainable lifestyle practices.

Family and community

Feeling part of their community is important to your child’s sense of self. We help nurture this by inviting families to the Centre to celebrate special days and culturally significant festivals and have close ties to local indigenous groups, and Hopetoun’s emergency services. Whenever possible, we encourage wide and diverse connections between children and their community.

We welcome families to our Centre to participate in:

  • Culturally significant events
  • Presentations to educate children about their job or other interesting topics
  • Supporting or volunteering their time for our programs

We regularly engage with:

  • Local primary schools
  • Local service people (e.g. police, paramedic, nurse, fire and emergency services, etc.)
  • The Men's Shed

Languages

Our educators' skills reflect the needs of local families. A number of our educators speak both Tagalog (Filipino) and English.

Special services

Providing a safe and nurturing environment is of the utmost importance to us. Our educators are experienced in working with children who live with a range of physical and intellectual disabilities.
