Child care
0-2345+

Located next to the Pilgrim Church, Pilgrim Occasional Care Centre provides long day care and occasional care services for children aged 3 months to 7 years.

We understand the importance of developing your child’s social skills and education, offering small family grouping sessions and opportunities to them to closely interact and build relationships through group activities, excursions, and shared experiences.

Environment

Our well-shaded outdoor area offers a variety of safe and engaging play equipment for your child’s delight, in addition to versatile indoor spaces. They’ll learn about sustainability, responsibility, and develop essential social skills while having fun with their peers in our variety of play areas.

Our long day care and occasional care centre features:

  • Planned and intentional indoor spaces
  • Gardening beds
  • Shade sail boat
  • Play area with climbing equipment
  • Recycling area to encourage sustainability and caring for the environment
  • Gross motor play equipment

Children enjoy play-based activities together both indoors and out, often while learning about everyday sustainable practices. We also embark on educative excursions and participate in activities organised by the Pilgrim Church.

  • We recycle water
  • We promote sustainable living and encourage children to develop every day sustainable practises
  • We go on excursions to the local library
  • We also participate in other Uniting services programs and Pilgrim Church activities

We love special guests. Some of our visitors include:

  • Cultural visitors

Health and wellbeing

We focus on empowering children to make healthy choices by offering lessons on nutrition, food safety, and cooking. Children are involved in the growth and preparation of our home-grown produce to encourage sustainable living and to learn about food from a range of cultural backgrounds.

  • We accommodate diverse dietary requirements
  • We practise and emphasise food safety
  • We work sensitively with parents and families from a range of cultural backgrounds to ensure cultural foods meet food standard requirements
  • We offer progressive snack and lunchtime to empower children to ask for what they want and when
  • We educate children and their families about healthy eating and nutrition
  • We offer a lunch box service providing morning and afternoon tea
Family and community

All families are welcome at our care centre, and we encourage them to join us in celebrating cultural festivals and days, talking to the children about their job, hobbies, or other areas of interest, and volunteering their time to support our programs. We believe family engagement enriches your child’s early learning experience and teaches them the value of community.

Special services

Our educators are experienced in working with children who live with a range of physical and intellectual disability or have experienced challenges and trauma.
