Roxburgh Park Community House & Children's Centre offers four year old kindergarten, five days a week from our campus at the Roxburgh Park Uniting Church.
We embrace each child's unique strengths, interests and personalities, and strive to develop children's physical, social and emotional learning. We encourage relationship building, communication skills, decision making and resilience.
We have outdoor and indoor spaces encouraging children to lead an active lifestyle. Placing a strong emphasis on outside activities such as climbing and gardening develops children’s motor skills. Recently we added a play kitchen to our outdoor area, a big hit with the children!
Our kindergarten features:
We participate in lots of fun and engaging activities promoting personal learning and development. We also encourage recycling and everyday sustainable practices. With local excursions and workshops covering a range of stimulating topics and activities, children have countless opportunities to open their minds to new and exciting people, places, and ideas.
We love workshops such as Living Eggs and Pet Education and hosting visitors from the local Primary school.
We take a wholesome approach to lunchtime. Our food is prepared on-site from healthy ingredients so that all children can enjoy a balanced diet full of variety and flavour. We also work closely with families to help them make the right food choices for their children.
At our early learning centre:
We love it when parents get involved! We actively support partnerships with families to help the children develop a sense of belonging and connectivity which aids in their social and emotional development. Every year, parents or family members volunteer their time to provide support and resources for our programs.
We have staff who speak Samoan and Japanese, and we can have all forms of communication translated for families who speak languages other than English.
Our educators are equipped with the skills to provide safe and nurturing environments to all children. They are experienced in working with children who live with a range of physical and intellectual disability and children who have experienced challenges and trauma.
